Mail | Penny Farthing Letter from Zoe

incoming mail from zoe

Happy Saturday to everyone!

Just popping in a bit as I just wanted to share this image of Zoe’s first letter for me. I met her through Instagram and she’s one creative lady. She runs her own online shop which is like, a stationery lover’s kraft dream!

I love the penny farthing bicycle theme of her parcel with the floral fabric tape combo. Also love the Project Life cards she included. I was too busy and rushing to send out a reply to her that I forgot to take pictures of what I sent back. I managed to take one picture before I sent it off though and it’s one of my proudest moments of lettering.14158291849_222de6c309_o

I’m off to watch a performance today. It’s been almost a month since I watched Grease and now I am going to watch a band. Have a happy weekend everyone!

Make | Simple Moleskine Makeover

Happy mid-week everyone! I hope these first few days of June have been great for all of us. Yes, I am trying to be positive, you know silver lining and all that *noncommittal hand wave*. My work is still eating up most of my time and all of my energy but I discovered that it’s important to monitor myself and my energy levels, and also CREATEcraft, journal, write, doodle –  anything just do something not related to my work!

This time I wanted to share another quick and easy project – a MOLESKINE MAKEOVER! I bought a set of three squared Moleskine Cahiers a long time ago but didn’t get around to using it.  I decided to use them as a Gratitude Journal, Weekly Wishes Journal and a Prayer Journal.

First, I brushed clean water on a scrap watercolor paper I had lying around (I always save stuff). Then I loaded my brush with color – I used purple, pink and green – and just dotted it around the paper or brushed with broad strokes. Once dry I cut the paper into strips.

Then I used my ZIG Millennium pen to create faux calligraphy. I wrote the words PrayerWeekly Wishes and Gratitude. I cut them again to the desired label shapes. I didn’t really measure because as I said before I like to guesstimate in doing simple crafting projects.

Once that’s done the final step is to glue them at the front cover of the Moleskine Cahier. I used both clear glue and double-sided tape to secure the labels. And there you go! A simple way to decorate your journals or little notebooks!

You can also do this for a portable Bullet Journal or a Food Passport. You can also add other embellishments like washi tape. I personally prefer simple results, don’t you think this is such an easy project with a gorgeous outcome?

Mail | Outgoing Mail for Stephanie

Here are some pictures of my first letter to Stephanie , I met her through blogging and we share a few interests like penpalling and our love for Korean culture. She’s such a darling person and I wanted to give her something inspiring and colorful for a first letter! I actually made a booklet for her, here are some pictures:

I recycled a 2012 kikki.K calendar and made it into the cover. Used my black Pentel Brush pen to write Hello in both English and Korean. I also adhered washi tapes as added decor.

I seriously love this page, why? Because like the real fortune cookie, there is a secret message when you scratch the paper sticking out. Isn’t it cool?! Check out what it says over at Stephanie’s blog.

I included Project Life cards with my hand-lettering and also an envelope filled with tiny calligraphy pieces. You can read what Stephanie thought of my letter here.

Faith Builder: There is no escaping God’s love

Hello Friends!

As I mentioned in this post, I have joined the You Are Loved Bible Study over at Good Morning Girls. I have pursued solo Bible studies before but my commitment wavers off by the second week or so, that is why I joined an email group to keep me accountable for the coming eight weeks of Bible Study. However, I also feel that if I am really serious about my goal to grow strong in my faith I can also share what the Lord has spoken to me through this Bible study (and that some of you might nudge me and tell me to keep updating the blog with Bible study notes!). It is my prayer that I grow with the faith and knowledge of God’s love and maybe you, dear reader as well. So without further ado, here’s Week One , Day One of  You Are Loved!

Psalm 137: 9-10 (The Voice)

Can I go anywhere apart from Your Spirit?
Is there anywhere I can go to escape Your watchful presence

If I go up into heaven, You are there.

If I make my bed in the realm of the dead, You are there.

If I ride on the wings of morning,

if I make my home in the most isolated part of the ocean

Even then You will be there to guide me;

Your right hand will embrace me, for You are always there.

God is everywhere. There is no escaping His love. Human relationships may fail and disappoint but God is constantly present in my life. He is with me at whatever place/situation I am in my life. Whether it be the pinnacle of victory or the bleakest of all my nights, He is there. That I am never truly alone – He is there.  Not only is He a constant presence but He will be there to guide when I need to be led in the right direction and embraced when I need comfort.

No more running wild, for there is no escaping God’s love in my life. I will run into the arms of the Father who watches over me and loves me unconditionally. People may abandon me or situations may let me down but I know that I am never abandoned or alone because His Word says that I cannot go anywhere away from Him. I will remember this truth and keep it in my heart.

Heavenly Father thank You for Your presence in my life. I pray that I will live each day with increasing faith and knowledge that You are always with me. That I can never be far from You and Your love. That I will always remember that as You have held my hand and guided me many times in the past, You will lead me through my present circumstance and guide me to a glorious future with You. Amen.

Weekly Wishes #6

Weekly Wishes #6

It’s JUNE!  I feel kinda down going into June because the last week of May has been so busy and harried and just filled with overall MEH-ness (yes I just made up a word!). Don’t get me wrong, there were a lot of good things even great things that happened but it seems that the stress of work trumped over any silver lining. It’s been so stressful lately not to mention tiring that I fall asleep as soon as I my back hits the bus seat – and I wake up a good forty-five minutes later, but I still have a long way to go from home.
So here’s a review of what I wanted to do last week:

Study Korean for at least 30 minutes a day.

This didn’t happen for the SECOND TIME. I haven’t given up yet though. I will try to make this happen, it’s a bit embarrassing to have this show up every week though, but I need to be a person of my word. I miss learning something new because my work is quite routine and when you’ve done designing engineer work for three years some things don’t need much brain power.

Send Mail

This is the ONLY thing I was able to accomplish from last week’s wishes. So I guess I deserve a pat on the back for that ? It feels great to send off a letter or a parcel. Somehow I feel more connected to a bigger world if it makes any sense.

No Carbs After Lunch

This was a no-go. In fact last week was the week where I think I ate more carbs in a month! From my colleague treating pizza to my weakness for anything from Awfully Chocolate I was not following this at all. I think part of me rebels when it comes to restricting the food I need to eat. With the stress I face everyday I have urgent, must-satisfy cravings for  bread, rice and sugar.

This Week’s Goals

Study Korean for at least 15 minutes a day.

See what I did there? I lowered the timing. I am still thinking of way on how to study and what to study. Hopefully next week I’ll be able to say that I have studied Korean in some form!

Participate in Good Morning Girls – YOU ARE LOVED study

I signed up for an email group Bible Study which starts today! I am beyond excited to read and study the Word of God with fellow believers. This is actually my first time to participate and I am looking forward to not only sharing what I’ve learned with my group but also to grow in my faith.

Edit Photos

There are still photos from January (!) that I want to share on this blog that I have not even edited and organised. Since I am not a Photoshop expert it takes me quite a long time to edit photos. For this week I want to at least edit photos from the time I visited the different museums here in Singapore.

Instagram started out as a way for me to look at people’s wonderful Calligraphy and Lettering creations. I am just blown away by the amount of creative and talented people that it inspired me to start lettering and pick up calligraphy too. After six months, I am so blessed that not only has my number of followers increased but through my Instagram feed I have seen my progress in lettering!

Aside from that, since I started blogging I have been creating at a more regular pace – the bunting, the calligraphy package, even the simple cut and paste journal. All of which are also captured and shared on Instagram. I just want to share my Instagram favourites for the month of May.

Are you on Instagram as well? What do you enjoy about being on Instagram?
